On Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18, 2022, the 39th edition of the European Heritage Days will be held, which will celebrate sustainable heritage, a highly topical theme in the context of climate change. For the occasion, the sites, museums and associations of the Falaise – Suisse Normande destination are offering you original activities and visits.

Saturday, September 17

Cliff: Guided Tour “Cliff in Paintings”

Departing from the church of Guibray, this guided tour will take you to Place Guillaume le Conquérant. The Guibray horse market, the market in front of St Gervais, the houses of Val d'Ante, the churches or the castle of Falaise have been chosen as subjects for paintings or engravings by many artists. This walk of about 1h30 will be the opportunity to discover them and to find with them the trace of the old Cliff. Let us be guided by the eyes of Raoul Dufy or Othon Friesz, André Messager or Pierre Trémauville.

Conference “The Neolithic in the Pays de Falaise” by Denis Jan, archaeologist at the Department of Calvados. The Neolithic sites excavated in the Pays de Falaise will be discussed, in particular that of Les Sentes, recently excavated, as well as other sites in Calvados in order to illustrate all the facets of this period.

Treprel – Treprel Castle: Self-guided tour

Falaise - Mediatheque : Excavation of a false Neolithic tomb

Come and experience the excavation of a false Neolithic tomb, in the glass roof of the media library, with an educational booklet as support. A mediator from the department's archeology service will be present to accompany the public.

Screening: "Dancing with animals: the Great Regards".

Chorège CDCN invites you to discover the documentary films of the dancers Marine Chesnais and Céline Larrère. A choreographic approach to the sensitive relationship with whales, bees, cows and snails, in the open sea and on farms, where the encounter with the living and animal bodies is crossed by dance.

Falaise - Church of Saint-Gervais : Concert

Concert organized by the Independent Music association and supported by the Saint Laurent neighborhood association. The Keiran Mc Niff Singers, a group of 80 French and English singers accompanied by a chamber orchestra, perform works by Whitacre, Handel, Albinoni, Arnesen, Nicolay, Goodall, Purcell, Forrest, Rutter.

Saint Martin de Better – Chapel of St. Vigor : Independent visit

Free visit to the Saint Vigor chapel, erected in the 1987th century and restored in 21 by Kyoji Takubo, a Japanese artist, who decided to make it a true work of art. "Murmurs at the chapel": This participative artistic project, supervised by Florine Delasalle, is offered to you by the Association of Friends of the Chapel of Torp with the desire to bring this place to life in restoration for 20 years. In collaboration with the municipality of Villers Canivet, the desire is also to highlight the history of the town and its inhabitants. “Mumures” will be an opportunity to collect the oral memory around the place to create a sound and visual work in resonance with the chapel. The Château d Ailly opens its park to free visit. On the occasion of its millennium, you can discover in the chapel a collection of wedding dresses and samples of haute couture embroidery. Also attend exceptional performances by the company Derrière le Masque on both days (at 2:14 p.m. and 30 p.m.). The troupe will perform selected pieces by Molière (the members of the company will be dressed in incredible outfits, created by Gérard Trémolet, owner of the place and haute-couture couturier).

Saint Germain-Langot – Watermill: Guided tour
